This is definitely one of those rare songs that sound just far too accomplished for such a new artist to have made. You’ve probably heard of London via Vienna artist S O H N by now – his song The Wheel was deservingly widely blogged, and has since clocked up more than 180,000 plays on SoundCloud, leading to his signing to Vagrant earlier this week. If it seems a meteoric rise within thirty days, well, it is. But it’s entirely in proportion with his talent – we’ve not heard intricately put together electronica ballads this innovative and touching since a certain Mr Blake similarly made the internet lose the proverbial ‘it’ a few years back. The comparison to Blake shouldn’t be taken too literally, though, as “The Wheel” is essentially a seriously chopped pop tune at heart, and “Red Lines” is tinged with distinctively downcast R&B; we’re not about to start using words like ‘original’ or anything, but S O H N certainly seems borderline incomparable.

The newly released video sitting above this text was pieced together by the guys at Noisey from bits of film that seem to fit the music perfectly, to coincide with the single which was released this week, and you can still buy the vinyl here, although stocks are allegedly running low…
