Revellers making their way to Pilton for Glastonbury festival this week should remember to pack their wellies, the Met Office has warned.

Rain has become a mainstay of the music festival over the years, and while this year may not see the torrential downpours that have defined some previous years, light or heavy showers are predicted for Thursday to Sunday, and the ground will inevitably turn to mud.

Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Bob Wilderspin said:

“Thursday night into Friday morning could see some heavy downpours for Somerset and there is the potential for slow moving thundery showers to affect Glastonbury Festival both Saturday and Sunday.”
