Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has become professor of music at Coventry University, proving once and for all that rock music is part of the establishment.
Iommi, 65, was awarded an honorary doctorate from the university in November last year, and after visiting the university and discussing the music industry and his career with students, he was offered a position as professor of music at their Department for Performing Arts.
The guitarist will take up the role in Autumn at the start of the next academic year, and will teach students song-writing and music composition.
