Rio Olympics 2016: Stones thrown at press bus

0

Two windows were smashed on a bus carrying journalists between Olympic venues in Rio, after stones were thrown at it on Tuesday evening.

The journalists on board the vehicle reported hearing “popping” and “cracking” noises as the stones truck the windows, which some thought could have been gunshots.

The incident caused the bus to pause on its journey between the Deodoro hockey venue and the main press centre at Barra da Tijuca and was accompanied the rest of the way by a police escort.

The two windows did not shatter immediately, but one shattered as the bus continued its journey to the press centre.

It is unknown who threw the stones or why the journalists’ bus was targeted.
