At least 37 have died after a Turkish cargo plane crashed in Kyrgyzstan, 25km north of the capital, Bishkek.

ACT Airlines operated Flight TK6491 was en route between Hong Kong and Istanbul when it crashed in the fog as it attempted to make a refuelling stop at Manas airport.

All four crew members and at least 33 people on the ground were killed, and at least 15 buildings were destroyed, as the 14-year-old Boeing 747 slid for hundreds of metres through the village before coming to a stop.

Deputy PM Muhammetkaly Abulgaziev said on state TV: “According to preliminary information, the plane crashed due to a pilot error.”
