Motorists in the northern Russian city of Murmansk were shocked to see a suspected meteorite flash across the night sky on Saturday morning.

The fireball pulsated as it scorched through the night sky at around 02:00 local time (23:00 BST).

The fireball has not been confirmed as a meteorite, with some claiming that it could space debris re-entering the atmosphere, but a number of drivers caught images of a bright blue explosion on their dashboard cameras, as shown in the video above from the RT news network.

Many Russian drivers install dashboard cameras to avoid fraudulent car accident claims, but videos of meteorites are a lucky by-product.
