A Dorset woman was shocked to see an eagle fly through the open patio doors into her living room as she watched television.

Wendy Morrell, 55, was watching the French Open Men’s Final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic when the Russian Steppe eagle burst into her living room.

Wessex Bird of Prey Rescue were alerted to the 40cm tall eagle, which has a 1.2m wingspan, at the house in Bournemouth and captured the bird from its seat on top of a cabinet in the front room.

The eagle, named Boris, had been reported lost two days earlier by its owners in Corfe Mullen, where he was used to scare away seagulls from the landfill.
