Officials from Portland in the US state of Oregon have decided to discard 173 million litres of drinking water after a teenager was recorded urinating in a city reservoir.
Three young men were apprehended at around 01:00 local time (09:00 BST) on Wednesday after one of the group urinated directly into the Mount Tabor reservoir through an iron fence.
Officials have admitted that the risk to the public is low, but said that customers had “an expectation that their water is not deliberately contaminated”, according to the Independent.
