A Dorset comedian has broken the world record for telling the most jokes in a minute.

Clive Greenaway, 57, managed to make the audience laugh 26 times in 60 seconds, warming up to a punchline every two seconds towards the end of his roll.

The Tommy Cooper tribute performer was aiming to squeeze in 28 jokes into the minute, but still managed to break the previous record by five gags and gave the audience a good giggle.

It took the comedian months of practice to speed through his list of 30 one-liners, leaving just 0.0025 seconds for audience reaction before going on to the next joke.

Greenaway said:

“I am delighted with my record. When I heard a German held the world record form telling the most jokes in one minute I couldn’t believe it and knew it had to be broken.”

No video exists of his record-breaking gag-roll, but the comedian did attempt to break his own record live on BBC Newsnight soon afterwards. How many jokes do you count?
