A bride-to-be decided to marry a guest at her own wedding after the groom had a seizure and collapsed in northern India.

Jugal Kishore, 25, collapsed in an epileptic fit before he was to marry 23-year-old Indira in a ceremony in the town of Rumpur, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

According to The Times of India, the groom was rushed to hospital, but in an apparent rage that her husband-to-be had not told her that he was epileptic, Indira said she would marry a guest at the wedding instead.

When Kishore returned from hospital he found his wife-to-be married to Harpal Singh, her sister’s brother-in-law.

He pleaded with Indira to take him back, and members of his family launched a complaint with the police, but to no avail. The police said there was nothing they could do and the two families eventually resolved the matter.
