A train carrying crude oil burst into flames after derailing in southern West Virginia, US, on Monday.

A train travelling from North Dakota to Yorktown derailed in a snowstorm near Mount Carbon, causing at least 14 tankers to explode sending a massive fireball 100m into the air. Another tanker plunged into the Kanawha River than runs alongside the train tracks.

The CSX train company says that they are working to contain the oil leak in the river, and fires around some some of the cars will be allowed to burn out.

One person was treated for possible respiratory problems and hundreds of people living nearby were evacuated from their homes.
