Infamous Islamic State (IS) executioner ‘Jihadi John’ has appeared unmasked in a video for the first time, apparently promising to bring the brutality of the extremist group back to the UK.

In a 77-second mobile phone video obtained by the Mail on Sunday, vows to continue “cutting heads” and a triuphant return to the UK.

Security services have long believed Jihadi John to be Londoner Mohammed Emwazi, but this video is the first time the 27-year-old has appeared without his signature black face-mask, and the first time he has publicly revealed his true identity.

The short video is reported to have been filmed near the IS-held town of Deir Ezzor in south-east Syria about two months ago, and was secretly obtained by rebel fighters from the Free Syrian Army, who sent it to sympathisers in Bulgaria and Turkey.

Emwazi was last seen in an official IS video at the end of January, beheading Japanese hostage Kenji Goto.

The US placed a £6 million bounty on his head after he publicly executed American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and US aid worker Peter Kassig in IS propaganda videos over the last year.
