An Indian national who returned to Delhi from Liberia has tested positive for Ebola, the first case of the deadly disease in the country.

A 26-year-old man has been quarantined in a special facility at Delhi Airport after his semen samples tested positive for the Ebola, The Times of India reports.

The man returned to India on 10 November after being treated for Ebola in Liberia and showed no obvious symptoms of the disease. His blood tests were reportedly clear, but the virus can remain in urine and semen for longer period.

The health ministry said the “situation is under control and there is no need for any alarm”, and the man will remain in isolation until his bodily fluids test negative.
