Paris Orly Airport was forced to close one of its runways after an Air Algerie plane skidded off the tarmac.

Flight AH1004 from ALgiers to Paris skidded off runway 26 at Orly Airport at around 14:30 local time (13:30 GMT).

It is not yet clear whether a technical fault or human error were to blame for the Airbus A330-202 sliding onto the grass next to the runway at Paris’ second biggest airport.

No-one was injured in the incident.

A photograph has emerged online showing skid marks on the runway, and the front of the plane in the grass.

Orly Airport said that despite the runway closure, there have been no delays as Monday is “not a big day for traffic”.
