West Bromwich Albion and England striker Saido Berahino has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Cheshire Police stopped the footballer on the M6 near junction 20 for speeding in the early hours of 22 October, and after speaking with officers, he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, reports Sky News.

Berahino has since been bailed and is due to return to a Cheshire police station for question in December.

The 21-year-old Burundi-born footballer moved to the Birmingham with his mother and siblings at the age of 10. He signed for the West Bromwich Albion Centre of Excellence in 2004 at under-12 level and progressed through the youth system to sign his first professional contract in the summer of 2011.

The £14,000-a-week star has been rumoured to be a transfer target for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, and was called up to the England squad by manager Roy Hodgson earlier this month, but did not play.

The rising star, said to earn around £14,000 a week, has also been touted as a £20m target for Liverpool and Spurs.
