The Palace of Westminster and Houses of Parliament are on lockdown after a knife-wielding man was shot inside palace grounds.
An attacker carrying a knife managed to gain access to Old Palace Yard at the Palace of Westminster and stab a police officer before being shot by armed police. The officer involved is reported to have died from their injuries.
Nearby, the Metropolitan Police say they were called to a firearms incident at Westminster Bridge at 14:40 where a 4×4 vehicle is reported to have hit at least eight people.
One of the victims hit by the car on Westminster Bridge has died from their injuries, with some of the other people reported to be suffering from “catastrophic” injuries.
The Prime Minister was reportedly been safely evacuated by armed officers via the Westminster Lords exit.
Transport for London (TfL) have closed Westminster station and raod traffic is being diverted as the police carry out an investigation.
