The family of Kenneth Noye’s victim is outraged, after the killer got a parole hearing that means he could be set free within weeks.

Noye, 67, was sentenced to life in prison in 2000 for the murder of 21-year-old Stephen Cameron in a road rage incident. After brawling with Cameron at the junction of the M25 and M20, Noye went back to his van to get a knife and stabbed Cameron twice in the chest before calmly driving away from the scene.

A spokesperson for the Parole Board confirmed to ITV News that Noye had been referred to it by the Secretary of State, but said that he would only be released if he is deemed no longer a threat.

The spokesperson said:

“The Parole Board may only direct the release of a life sentence prisoner if it is satisfied that it is no longer necessary for him to be detained in order to protect the public from serious harm and, if it is so satisfied, it is required to release the prisoner.

“Each case is assessed on its own individual merits.”

Before attacking Stephen Cameron on the M25, Noye had previously stabbed to death an undercover police officer outside his house, but successfully pleaded that his actions were in self-defence.
