A former journalist from the Sunday Mirror has been charged with hacking mobile phones back in 2001.

Graham Johnson, who worked at the Sunday Mirror between 1997 and 2005, is the first journalist from the newspaper to face phone-hacking charges.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) received a file on Johnson from the Met Police in May and has decided that there was sufficient evidence to charge him with phone-hacking.

Johnson is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 6 November.
